The front steps of the Colorado State Capitol
The front steps face west, towards the mountains and towards Lincoln St.
The front steps are located just behind the Colorado Soldiers Monument statue pictured here.
Address of State Capitol: 200 E. Colfax Ave., Denver, CO, 80203. You can use this address guide you to the Capitol, but please note that your GPS will likely take you to the north side of the building, NOT to the front steps and front of the building.
Tours still operate when events are happening at the Capitol or in Civic Center Park, and there are events almost every weekend in our warmer months. Please check our Facebook page the morning of your tour to see if there are any events going on at the front steps of the Capitol that will require the starting location to shift slightly.
Your guide will be wearing a neon yellow Denver Walking Tours shirt. They may also be carrying a small green Denver Free Walking Tours sign, especially in less than ideal weather.
Denver Walking Tours does not charge for any of our free walking tours - we operate on a "pay-what-you-like" tipping model. We think that you should decide how much you think your Denver tour was worth when your tour is finished. With your tour guide (Blaine, Jill, Marty, Laura, Renata, Cami, Dick, Alyce, or Janine depending on the day you join us) working for gratuities only, you know they are going to go the extra mile to make sure that you have a GREAT tour, enjoy your experience, learn something new, answer any questions you have, and give local recommendations. If you enjoyed your tour, just tip your amazing guide what you feel their time and work was worth to you!
Easy (1.7 mile flat walk with plenty of stops. Wheelchair and stroller accessible)
All ages are welcome! Will your kid(s) like the tour? That really depends on your kiddo(s)! Our Denver sightseeing tours are suitable and designed to be enjoyed by all ages. Your guide is also trained and experienced in working with youth. Youth ages 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Tours do depart on time. Please by courteous to the rest of your tour group & guide by arriving 5-10 minutes before your tour's scheduled departure time.
No reservations needed unless you are a party of 7+. Parties of 7+ guests must book a private, pre-paid tour, as our 10 am tours are designed for individual visitors or small groups of six or less visitors to ensure a safe and engaging tour experience.
Denver tours operate rain, shine, or snow. In cases of extreme weather, please check our Facebook page for cancellation announcements.
There is the Free 16th St. Mall shuttle that can take you back to the start of the tour, if needed. It runs every few minutes.
Don't forget to bring water!
Also, see our FAQ page for a ton more info on our free tours.

Ruben B. "Our tour guide was Sherry Moon and she was an absolute pleasure! Very knowledgable and truly loves the city's history. Recommended to all our friends and anyone going as their first event to get familiar with the city and it's little secrets including the free busses for mall street which came in VERY handy! Thank you guys!" Read full testimonial.
